If you’re like me, when you’re young, you think you’ve got all the answers…until somebody makes you realize you don’t. When I was in my 20s, I had somebody say to me, “You want to know what you want in your life?” Of course, I was all over this: I'm like, “Yeah! How do you know?” He said, “Look at what you’ve got.”
I said, “Oh, no, no, no – wait, wait, wait! That’s not what I want!” He said, “Look at what you’ve got.” I did…and found I didn't like the wardrobe I had, I didn't like the car I had, I didn't like the amount of money I was making, I didn't like the way I was taking care of myself…
Want to know what you want in your life? Look at what you’ve got.
That encounter and that question woke me up. I began to make changes in my life: I got a better car, I'm taking care of my body a little better, I got a better job, I started taking care of myself. I started creating the kind of life I wanted to have…and now I have the life I want to have!
But I needed somebody to tell me that! You want to know what you want in your life? Look at what you’ve got. You may realize you want to make some changes - you may realize you're on the right track. Either way, it's a great exercise.
See you next week!
